Economy and Gay Marriage: Is there a connection between the two?
According to the new analysis made by the comptroller’s choice of New York City, the state’s revenue will increase by more than $210 million within three years if only gay or same sex marriage will become legal in New York.
Aside from that, the same report said that the cost of giving benefits to the “third sex” including insurance to the married couples who are of the same sex may cost almost $70 million for three years. At least $37 million of which will come from the business based in the city of New York.
There are no estimated additional expenses that the city or even the state must shoulder since many employers are now providing these benefits to the same-sex couples just like Connecticut and Massachusetts.
